When Lalu Prasad served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, allegations of appointments in the railroad industry made in exchange for land given to his family were the subject of the case.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and current Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav were all granted bail by a Delhi court on Wednesday in connection with a lawsuit brought against them in relation to the land for jobs scandal in the Indian Railways.
The decision was made by Special CBI Judge Geetanjali Goel.
Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and fourteen other defendants were served summonses by the court on September 22 after it took cognizance of a new chargesheet submitted by the CBI on July 3.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asserts that the hiring standards and policies established by the Indian railroads were not followed by the appointments made in the railroads.
On May 18, 2022, the CBI filed a case alleging that property was acquired in the name of a private company in exchange for employment with the railways, and that the said property was later transferred to family members through the transfer of shares at a price significantly below the property’s market value.
On October 7, 2022, the CB had already submitted a new chargesheet. It was disclosed that the chargesheet from October 2022 dealt with the appointments made in the Central Zone of the Railways, whilst the chargesheet from July 2023 dealt with the appointments made in the West Central Zone.
On February 27, 2023, the court accepted the first charge sheet. Later, on March 15, it granted bail to each and every accused, noting that the charge sheet had been submitted without any arrests.
