Maruti Wagon R Flex Fuel: For the Indian market, Maruti is getting ready to release its first flex fuel vehicle that runs on sugarcane juice. It is anticipated that Maruti will introduce its first car, a tiny car, to the Indian market by 2025.
Maruti is consistently producing this kind of fuel, which is less expensive than gasoline and produces an equivalent amount of power, to help its consumers escape the growing costs of gasoline and diesel in the Indian market. I should point out that Maruti is not the first automaker to do this. Some cars even used this technology back in the day.
Maruti Wagon R Flex Fuel
During the Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki revealed the WagonR Flex Fuel, which is one of the vehicle’s highlights. But the business had already demonstrated it in December 2022 at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Technology (SIAM). Maruti Suzuki plans to use local engineers to manufacture it in-house. This vehicle is intended to operate on an engine that is 20% to 85% blended ethanol.
The present 1.2-liter Naturally Accepted gasoline engine will power it. Its engine will, however, undergo significant modifications as a result of which it will be able to produce more power on ethanol mixed engines. This engine’s partner will also be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and be ready for BS6.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the ethanol-powered Maruti WagonR will emit up to 79% less pollutants than the gasoline-powered model. However, it will have the same power and performance as the gasoline version.
What did Nitin Gadkari ji say?
The Indian Union Transport Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has also urged citizens to embrace this technology by using flex fuel cars in the country’s market. This time, he has invited more people to utilize the flex fuel engine on the platform. And with this, we’ll be able to get closer to having an independent India. It won’t be necessary to import pricey gasoline from overseas.
Petrol will be able to run on 20% to 85% ethanol thanks to this technology. Maruti Suzuki has responded to this as well, stating that the infrastructure is all that is needed and that the technology is available.
What is flex fuel?
An alternate fuel produced by combining gasoline, methanol, or ethanol is called flex fuel. The engines in flex fuel vehicles are made to run on multiple fuel types. The fuel system and engine are heavily modified. As a result, it looks like the typical gasoline model. Because it is made from corn and corn, flex fuel is also known as alcohol base fuel.
In addition to the fermentation of starch and sugar throughout the production process, ethanol engines are also significantly more fuel-efficient than regular gasoline engines. In the Indian market, gasoline costs approximately ₹100, whereas ethanol will cost between ₹60 and ₹70. In addition, it will benefit our farmers in addition to this. Both the state of our nation’s farmers and the growth of our economy are expected to improve.
Future of flex fuel in India?
Flex fuel will eventually make its way into the Indian market, though. However, there is a lot of work being done on this technology. The Indian market will witness a lot of projects utilizing flex fuel technology in the near future. Flex fuel technology was found in the Toyota Innova High Cross abroad a while back.
