Indra Rasoi Yojana:
The welfare of the citizens is the focus of many state governments and the central government of the country. Rajasthan government is also running many programs for the benefit of the people. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has launched a scheme to fulfill the promise of “No one sleeps hungry”. Indira Rasoi Yojana is its name.
The scheme was launched on August 20, 2020. 358 cooks have been employed by 213 city councils to carry out the scheme. In this article, please tell us more about this strategy.

In the 2022–2023 budget, the Rajasthani government had stated that the program would be expanded from 358 cooks to 1000. The government will spend Rs 150 crore annually on this. Around 9.25 crore thalis will be served every year, helping the less fortunate.
What is the specialty of this scheme
- In just Rs 8, the beneficiary will get fresh and nutritious food.
- The beneficiary will be served food with respect.
- The state government will give a grant of Rs 17 on each plate.
- In this scheme, the operation of the kitchen will be done by the cooperation and nature of the local institutions.
- One plate will include 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickle.
- There will be freedom to choose menu and meal timings through the district level committee.
- One-time Rs 5 lakh will be given for each kitchen operation and Rs 3 lakh for recurring expenditure every year.

The government has set up a management and monitoring committee at the state and district levels to fully implement the Programme. City officials will continuously monitor and evaluate kitchen operations. The municipal government has also fixed timings for food distribution. Breakfast will be served daily from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm and lunch will be served from 5:00 pm. By 9:00 pm, dinner.
