CM Jagan Mohan Reddy declares Visakhapatnam as Andhra Pradesh’s new capital

YS Jagan Mohan, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced Tuesday that Visakhapatnam will become the state capital.

Reddy stated that he would also be moving to Visakhapatnam over the coming months, while addressing the preparatory meetings for the Global Investors Summit which will be held in Visakhapatnam this March.

“Here I am, to invite you to Visakhapatnam which will be our capital over the next days. He said that he would be moving to Visakhapatnam himself in the next months.

Amaravati is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The controversial AP Decentralization and Inclusive Development of All Regions (2020) was repealed by the Reddy government. It had been intended that three capitals would be established for the state. Three capitals were proposed by the state government: Visakhapatnam (executive capital), Amaravati(legislative capital), and Kurnool (“Judicial capital”).
