Pakistan Former president Pervez Musharraf Causes of death in Dubai

Pervez Musharraf former Pakistani president dies at 79

Reports state that Pervez Musharraf was receiving treatment at an American Hospital Dubai for an illness.

Geo News reported that Pervez Musharraf (retd) was the former president general. He was 79 years old. The report said Musharraf was undergoing treatment at an American Hospital Dubai for an unspecified condition.

Musharraf was born in Delhi on August 11, 1943. He completed his elementary education at St Patrick’s High School, Karachi. Former president attended Forman Christian College in Lahore for higher education.

Musharraf was declared a fugitive by Benazir Bhutto’s murder case. Former president, who has been living in Dubai since 2016, was being tried in treason for suspending the Constitution in 2007.

The ex-military ruler fled to Dubai in March 2016 for treatment, and has not been seen since.

Musharraf was admitted to hospital due to complications from amyloidosis (a medical condition that affects the brain), his family informed via Twitter.

Amyloidosis, a rare condition, causes abnormal deposition of certain forms of proteins in different body tissues. This can lead to organ damage.

Musharraf rose in national prominence after Nawaz Sharif, the prime minister, promoted him to four star general in 1998. Musharraf became the head of the armed force. He was the leader of the Kargil Infiltration that triggered war between India and Pakistan.

2020: The Lahore High Court declared unconstitutional all actions taken against Musharraf by the Nawaz Sharif government, including the filing a complaint on high-treason charges and the formation of special courts as well as their proceedings. This led to the elimination of the death penalty that he had been handed down by the trial court.

A special court sentenced him in 2019 to death. Musharraf was elected to power by a bloodless coup against PM Nawaz Sharif in 1999. Musharraf, who was facing impeachment after 2008 elections, was forced to resign from his position as president and moved into self-imposed exile.
